Book Review of the book (The Marine In Until A) By Kris Cook I had trouble writing this review for The Marine in Unit A and "NO" it wasn't because it was a M/M book ,it's because a it's little heart breaking to think of parents who would disown they children because he was different. And that is what happen to a young Oliver. When he was just 13 his parents disowned him and send him to a camp to be fixed . I always though parents love was unconditional but I guess not for some. Poor Oliver also lived on the street and just so much more happen to him ,until the day he meet a wonderful man called Malcolm who took Oliver in and showed him the love like he would his own son. And Oliver learned to love Malcolm back just like he was his father, And then Oliver's world fell to pieces Malcolm died and left Oliver heartbroken and lonely again. All Oliver was thinking about was what would he do now that his guardian angel Malcolm was gone. And then it happens his world gets brighter a young man by the name of Adam moves into Until A in Mockingbird Place sometime after Malcolm passes away. And wow Oliver instantly fells in love. Adam is a man with trouble or his own, he's a former marine (not of his own choices )and also has some issues because of injuries he received from the war and about coming home. Would Adam be able to come to term with is new life out of the military or not. This author touch on so many topics that so many people go through everyday of their life's, like the up and downs of being different than other people ,because who they sexual partners are, the way they meant dress, the color of their skin, and soon on. The way I see it everyone to their own. If we were suppose to be the same wouldn't our maker have done that when he make us . I totally applause the author for this great book and for telling us the story of Oliver and Adam and giving us the chance to rethink just what would and might happen in real life to some people. I totally recommend reading this book ,but the emotions that you will feel from reading it might leave you needing tissues close by you , I know I did . I just cant wait until Kris Cook's next book comes out which is called THE COWBOY IN UNTIL E |
